Tracee Ellis Ross Shares How She’s Embracing Singlehood On Her Own Terms
Tracee Ellis Ross is opening up once again about her journey through love and relationships.
The 53-year-old appeared on the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast and shared that, while she’s not lacking in the dating department, she hasn’t found her person yet.
The actress shares that she would “love a partner” and has had “wonderful” dating experiences and relationships, but she hasn’t found her life partner yet.
Further in the interview, Ross discusses her independence and how she learned to balance it with connection, sharing how it “used to bother me because I felt like I did something wrong.”
She continued, sharing how she’s “comfortable” with herself, and she has a tribe with whom she feels “really safe with.”
The “Girlfriends” star then expresses how “exhausting” it is to have to hear the public discuss her choice to be single.
“Sometimes people talk about it as if I have tried to be a poster child for that,” she began.
“I'm like, ‘No, that's just the facts.’ I also don't publicize when I am dating. We don't talk about that, that's okay.”
The “Black-ish” star explained that when you start dating someone, you don’t want “a point of view about something that’s private” while you’re still figuring out whether the relationship will work.
She clarified that she hasn’t been “chronically single,” but rather hasn’t done what she calls a “soft launch.”
Ross then reflected on her “singledom,” saying it doesn’t bother her to discuss it because she’s “choicefully” living her life and “curating a life” that feels authentic to where she is now.
The Los Angeles native told the host that she’s “not waiting” for anyone else to join her in “doing the things that bring me joy.” That mindset inspired her Roku series,”Solo Traveling.”
“It’s something I’ve always done,” she said. “And it’s been a big part of me living out loud and embracing who I am.”
Ross added that “other people’s fun is not my version of fun,” which led her to create her own version of joy and turn it into her reality.
