Gervonta 'Tank' Davis Facing Domestic Violence Charges
WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis has been arrested on charges of assault and battery against his ex-girlfriend.
WPLG Local 10 reports that Davis, who currently resides in Coral Springs, was taken into police custody in Miami Beach before he was transported to Doral.
On June 15, Davis and the victim were involved in a romantic relationship for about four years, and they share two children. When Davis showed up at the victim's home to pick up their children for Father’s Day, they got into a heated verbal altercation, which allegedly escalated to a physical altercation.
According to the report, Davis demanded that his victim remove their children from his vehicle because he was not going to take them. When she leaned forward to take their daughter from the backseat, Davis allegedly “struck her in the back of the head and then slapped her in the face, causing a minor cut to the inner area of her lip.”
Following the incident, the victim texted her mother that Davis was assaulting her and asking her to come outside.
This is the latest example of Davis having run-ins with the law and being accused of domestic violence. In February 2020, he was arrested on charges of simple battery/domestic violence against his former girlfriend after surveillance footage showed him grabbing her shirt near her throat and dragging her out of a basketball game. Also, in December 2022, Davis was arrested in Florida on a domestic battery charge, but the victim recanted her accusation, and the charges were eventually dropped.
In November 2020, Davis was indicted on fourteen counts for allegedly causing a serious car crash after running a red light when his Lamborghini Urus struck another car. The accident sent four occupants, including a pregnant woman, to the hospital. Davis allegedly fled the scene. After pleading guilty to several charges related to the hit-and-run, he was sentenced to a 90-day jail sentence in May 2023.
He’s currently being held at the Turner Guildford Knight Correctional Center on battery charges.
Davis's next fight is a scheduled rematch against Lamont Roach Jr. on August 16, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
