Lisa Bonet’s Reaction To Husband Jason Momoa’s Awkward Red Carpet Moment Is Priceless

A reporter rudely asked him to “perform” his Maori culture.

The Oscars red carpet proved to be a light-hearted affair, for the most part, with many of the correspondents failing to offend any of the stars of the evening.

Ashley Graham, however, seemed to mess up the flow when she asked Aquaman star Jason Momoa to perform the Haka, a traditional New Zealand dance, while his wife, Lisa Bonet, looked on. The exchange that ensued after, involving the actress and the model, quickly went viral.

For some context, the Haka is a dance that is unique to Maori culture and remains a protected part of Eastern Polynesian traditions. Complex further reports that Momoa even did a rendition of the dance at the premiere of his hit DC Comics film back in December.

When the America's Next Top Model judge asked Momoa for "one Haka move" in the awkward exchange, Bonet, seemingly aware of the dance's cultural significance, shook her head in disapproval.

Likely in an attempt to save the interview, Graham then repeatedly urged Momoa to shout on camera. Before agreeing to her request, the action star looked to his wife, seemingly for her approval, and when she nodded, he gave a cringe-worthy shout to appease the model.

The moment quickly went viral across social media.

Take a look, below:

  • Many who are familiar with the Haka took to Twitter to express their disappointment in Graham for attempting to use another's culture for entertainment purposes.
