Mariah Carey Popped Up at Easter Sunday Service in Atlanta

The Grammy-winning singer joined worshippers at one of the nation’s most historic Black churches for a special holiday appearance.

Mariah Carey brought a little extra sparkle to Easter Sunday in Atlanta.

The Grammy-winning singer made a surprise appearance at Resurrection Service at Ebenezer Baptist Church, where the Rev. Sen. Raphael Warnock led the celebration at one of the nation’s most historic Black churches. Warnock acknowledged Carey from the pulpit during service, prompting a warm response from the congregation.

Carey, 57, appeared to be in good spirits as she blew Warnock a kiss and stood to applaud along with the rest of the church. The moment gave worshippers a rare inside look at the superstar in a sacred space, and it fit right in with the joyful energy of Easter Sunday.

Carey was among several notable guests in attendance, including former Atlanta mayor and gubernatorial candidate Keisha Lance Bottoms, Judge Penny Brown Reynolds, attorney general candidate Tanya Miller, and superior court candidate Nikia Smith Cellars

Atlanta carries fond memories for the elusive chanteuse. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, Carey previously owned a large home in Sandy Springs and has remained tied to the area over the years, including multiple tour stops in the city. Carey shared an Easter photo on social media featuring her children and the Easter Bunny, giving fans a separate, tiny glimpse into how she spent the holiday with family.

Ebenezer Baptist Church carries deep meaning in Black history, as the church is long associated with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Warnock has served there as senior pastor since 2005 while also serving as Georgia’s first Black U.S. senator. Carey’s surprise visit made the holiday service feel even more special, gracing the congregation with her luminous presence.
