LeBron James Vows To Play Last Year With Son

“I would do whatever it takes to play with my son [Bronny] for one year. It’s not about the money at that point,” the Lakers forward said.

There’s no definitive answer on when and where L.A. Lakers Forward LeBron James will play his final NBA season, but he assures fans that it will be with his son.

During an interview with The Athletic, the future Hall of Famer announced his plan to play his last year alongside his oldest son, LeBron James Jr., aka, Bronny.

“My last year will be played with my son,” LeBron stated. “Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”

Earlier this month, it was reported that James had this family affair in his blueprint, further backing his statement with The Athletic.

Currently, LeBron’s two-year, $85 million extension with the Lakers will keep him there through the 2022-2023, just one year prior to Bronny’s NBA eligibility.

When asked about his possible return to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a couple years, James said, “the door’s not closed on that. I’m not saying I’m coming back and playing, I don't know. I don't know what my future holds. I don’t even know when I’m free.”

Under the current NBA guidelines, Bronny can enter the NBA draft as early as the 2024 draft. According to Yahoo! Sports, there’s the possibility of the NBA putting away the “one-and-done” rule. Therefore, there’s a possibility that Bronny could enter the draft next year.

Bronny is a 6’2, 17-year-old four-star recruit at Sierra Canyon in California. Just for the mere fact of who Bronny’s father is, NBA teams could have some likely interest in the point guard, despite the five-star recruits ranked ahead of him.

LeBron’s age, Bronny’s elevating talent and timing, all play a role in how this story unfolds.
