Michael B. Jordan Comfortable In Shirtless Scenes: ‘I’m In My Physical Prime’

"Look, we’re only going to be at this age once," said the actor and producer.

When Michael B. Jordan has to take his shirt off onscreen, he doesn't see it as a chore but rather a privilege.

The acclaimed actor opened up to The Hollywood Reporter on the state of his career and how he feels when a script requires him to be barely dressed in front of lights and cameras. Jordan told the outlet that taking his shirt off to film is "a plus in my life and in my career."

He continued, “Look, we’re only going to be at this age once and have the ability to play these roles, to be physical and take my shirt off. I’m in my physical prime right now in this moment. So I have been, like, yeah, we’re gonna milk this.”

And milking it is what he continues to do. From starring in Calvin Klein's Spring 2023 underwear campaign to portraying iconic characters Adonis Creed and Erik Killmonger, Jordan shows no signs of slowing down.

Although baring his surfboard abs is something he enjoys, he admits that he wants to avoid that becoming a roadblock in his career. "Lately, I've started to really think about and daydream about the future and what roles and what direction I want to go in, so there have been moments where I want to throw on a suit rather than a tank top. Maybe go for a shirt over a fitted tank, you know what I mean?" he continued.

Of his ascension in Hollywood, Jordan draws a parallel between his physical health and the health of his career. He explained to the outlet, “I learned about training and how to keep up my body, as it’s a direct reflection of the success you have on screen.”

He also told the outlet that he understands the cost of his high-profile life but acknowledges that, at the end of the day, he is a human being like everyone else. "I want to break down the façade that celebrities or actors have where they are put on such a pedestal or being untouchable, unreachable. That's part of the allure of the business and that's great, but it's also really good for people to know that we're all the same. We put our shoes on most of the time just like everybody else."
