Jets Sign Wide Receiver Garrett Wilson To a Four-Year, $130 Million Contract Extension
Garrett Wilson and the New York Jets have agreed to a four-year, $130 million contract extension that includes $90 million guaranteed.
According to CBS Sports, the contract marks the first time in NFL history that a wide receiver has received an average of $3 million after playing only three seasons in the league. Wilson is now the fifth-highest paid receiver in the league behind Ja’Marr Chase, Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, and DK Metcalf.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Wilson, who was drafted as the 10th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, expressed his excitement about the new deal and being a cornerstone of the Jets.
“Yup, Jets green has been running through me since the day they drafted me. Despite the ups and downs, the faith is mutual… that means the world to me,” Wilson wrote.
“Excited to start a new version of the chase next week. #JetUp.”
In his first three seasons with the Jets, Wilson has appeared in all 51 possible games surpassing the 1,000-yard mark in each year. Last season was a career year for Wilson where he posted 101 catches for 1,104 yards and seven touchdowns.
He's also one of only five players in NFL history to surpass 1,000 receiving yards and 80 receptions in each of his first three seasons, joining Chase, Justin Jefferson, Michael Thomas, and Odell Beckham Jr.
This year could be Wilson's best so far, now that he will be paired with Justin Fields, his former teammate at Ohio State University.
