Father's Day Bar: Watch Fabolous & His Son Freestyle To Drake’s ‘Champagne Poetry’
Brooklyn rapper Fabolous and his 6-year-old son, Jonas, showed off their wicked freestyle skills in a video post on Instagram on Tuesday.
The pair were riding around when Fab recorded them rapping along to an instrumental version of Drake’s “Champagne Poetry.” Fab captioned the video “APPLE JUICE POETRY,” tagging his son and adding some hashtags, including, “ #DidHeSayHeWentToGetABrickAndThenGotAGrip and #JonasFreestyles.
HipHopDX reminded fans that Fab was known for his freestyle raps early in his career including his 2015 Friday Night Freestyles series where he would rap along to hip-hop classics— and it looks like his son may be ready to follow in his footsteps. This is the second video of Jonas rapping with his dad. They duo dropped a video in March of Jonas rapping along to an atmospheric instrumental.
Jonas and Fab’s most recent video earned them respect from some fellow rap luminaries including Fat Joe, Dave East, and Bobby Shmurda who left fire emojis under the comment section of the IG post. Other fans noted, “It’s in the DNA.”
DX also notes that young Jonas is also showing an affinity for production. His dad has previously shared videos of him making his own beats in a recording studio. Who knows if Jonas will pursue a music career, but fans may not have to wait much longer to find out!
