Mariah Carey to Appear on "The X Factor"
However, the singer will not be a guest judge on the talent show.
Mariah Carey is set to appear on the talent competition The X Factor this fall, a source tells People. Show creator and judge Simon Cowell, of American Idol fame, hinted that Carey was interested in participating in the show, but she won't appear as a guest judge. Instead, she will be on as a guest of his.
"Mariah is definitely confirmed to be a part of X Factor," the source says. "She is confirmed to tape something with Simon Cowell at the judge’s homes."
The singing competition has been running in the U.K. since 2004 and will finally make its stateside debut September 21 at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
