Court Vision: Courtney Mays Is Changing the Game of Athlete Style
Courtney Mays has spent 16 years building a reputation as one of fashion’s most versatile stylists, known for her ability to merge streetwear edge with luxury tailoring. Her client list is stacked with stars who trust her vision — Jay Ellis, Chris Paul, Kevin Love, and WNBA icon Brittney Griner among them.
Mays’ journey into styling started unexpectedly. She planned to study art history but was pulled into fashion after working with designer Tracy Reese, who taught her the business side of the industry. “That experience made me realize styling could be a career, not just a passion,” she says.
For Mays, tailoring is everything. “Whether it’s from Goodwill or Neiman Marcus, small adjustments elevate a look,” she explains. That philosophy has allowed her to create bold, gender-fluid styles for clients, most memorably dressing Griner for her powerful Met Gala debut.
Known for mixing sneakers and streetwear with high-end pieces, Mays focuses on helping clients embrace individuality. “I want them to feel like their best selves,” she says. “It’s about presence and confidence, not just clothes.”
With each red carpet, tunnel walk, and magazine spread, Courtney Mays is proving that fashion is a form of storytelling — and she’s the one writing the narrative.
