Quentin Miller Addresses Ghostwriting Rumors For Nas’ ‘Kings Disease II’
Quentin Miller is firing back after a viral clip fueled rumors that he was a ghostwriter on Nas’ second installment of his critically-acclaimed Kings Disease trilogy.
Miller is credited on the song “The Pressure” as a writer on King’s Disease II. In a video he posted to his Instagram account (that has since been deleted), the Atlanta native said he’s not a “ghostwriter” even though that perception has been following him around since 2015, when everyone learned he wrote uncredited lyrics for Drake.
“OK, so apparently this whole Quentin-worked-with-Nas conversation is going a little more viral than what I thought ’cause now people are reaching out to me and asking me to clear it up,” he said in the clip. “Off the strength, I want to shout out to Hit-Boy for the opportunity that he gave me when he invited me to the studio and allowed me to work with Nas.”
Miller goes on to say that he’s worked with Hit-Boy over the years and noted that the producer (who handled all of the production for all of Nas’ Kings Disease albums) credited him on the Nas song after he met him in the studio.
“I just bounced some ideas, a couple ideas win. That’s it. That’s all that happened with the Nas s**t,” he explained.
Additionally, Miller revealed artists he’s written for in an official capacity, including Ty Dolla Sign, G-Eazy, and Jeremih: “Writers post their work and talk about their work all the time. You know why? It helps with the business of writing. When people know that you were a part of certain things, it makes people more prone to work with you. It’s kind of part of the job.”
Back in 2015, during the height of Drake’s beef with Meek Mill, the latter exposed the Toronto rapper for using Miller as a “ghostwriter” for his music. In his new IG post, Miller said that the whole saga has been shadowing him, despite everything that has happened since then, including the two squashing their beef.
"Now anytime people work with me, it’s like I’m supposed to be a ghost. But I’m not a f*****g ghost!" he said. "“You don’t make money being a ghost! Let me say this right now: Quentin Miller is not a ghostwriter. I don’t give a f**k if I never work with another artist again, I don’t care, because I hate the f*****g business. If you work with Quentin Miller, you worked with Quentin Miller! And you better be okay with saying that you worked with Quentin Miller!”
