Dez Bryant Out With Broken Foot, Terrell Suggs Suffers Season-Ending Injury

Cowboys wideout needs surgery, Ravens linebacker tears Achilles.

Injuries are a part of football and they could strike anytime. Even in Week 1 of the 2015 NFL season.

The Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens are hoping that a couple of opening week injuries don't derail their respective seasons.

Cowboys star wide receiver Dez Bryant will miss four to six weeks of action after breaking a bone in his right foot during the third quarter of the Dallas-New York Giants game on Sunday Night Football. He will require surgery. Bryant led receivers in touchdowns last season with 16.

"That's a tough loss. You can't replace Dez Bryant," Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo told ESPN. "I hurt for him, right now, because I know how much he loves to play this game. You need guys to step up. No one is going to be Dez Bryant, but the guys can do what they do well, and that's my job is to help that whole situation."

A more crushing blow is that of the Ravens, losing inside linebacker Terrell Suggs after suffering a torn Achilles tendon during Baltimore's Week 1 clash against the Denver Broncos. This is the second time that franchise's sacks leader has torn an Achilles in just over three seasons.

"That's our leader. The motto here is next man up, and you're going to hear everybody saying that," fellow Ravens linebacker Courtney Upshaw told ESPN. "But you never want to lose a guy like him. He's been a cornerstone for this defense for a long time."

Suggs, who turns 33 next month, took over for Ray Lewis as the Ravens' vocal leader.
