Florida Woman Pleads Not Guilty to Attempted Murder in Shooting at Rihanna's Beverly Hills Home
The Florida woman accused of opening fire outside Rihanna's Beverly Hills-area home was back in court Wednesday, and she's not backing down.
Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 35, of Orlando, pleaded not guilty through her attorney to attempted murder and more than a dozen other felony counts in Los Angeles Superior Court. Her lawyer, Deputy Public Defender Derek Ray Dillman, entered the plea on her behalf as she stood in a custody area. The only time she spoke was to waive her right to a speedy preliminary hearing.
Ortiz is accused of opening fire outside the couple's home with what authorities described as an AR-15-style rifle. Some rounds struck a gate and an Airstream travel trailer in the driveway. Prosecutors allege that Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, and their three young children were among the people at the Beverly Hills-area home on March 8 when Ortiz pulled up and sprayed about 20 bullets from the rifle into the exterior wall.
According to LA County District Attorney Nathan Hochman, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were together in the Airstream trailer at the time, while her mother, children, and staffers were inside the main house. Ortiz also allegedly fired at a neighboring residence that had two additional people inside.
Witnesses reported seeing someone in a Tesla driving back and forth before the gunfire began around 1:30 p.m. Ortiz was arrested about three miles away during a traffic stop near the Sherman Oaks Galleria. She was the only person in the car. When she was arrested, she had the rifle, additional rounds, and a wig she allegedly planned to use as a disguise.
No injuries were reported.
Ortiz faces one count of attempted murder, 10 counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and three counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling. She could face life in prison if convicted on all charges.
Her attorney requested that bail be reduced from $1.9 million to $70,000, but the request was denied.
The case has also taken a professional turn. Public records show Ortiz has been a licensed speech pathologist for more than a decade, and the judge ruled at the state attorney general's request that she be prevented from practicing in California during the pendency of the criminal action.
Before the shooting, Ortiz had apparently been fixated on Rihanna online for months. In a YouTube video posted in January 2026, she directly addressed the singer, and a Facebook post from February 23 tagged Rihanna's account with erratic, threatening language.
Ortiz is ordered to return to court on April 8, when a date will be set for a preliminary hearing to determine if there is enough evidence for her to stand trial.
