Minneapolis’s Chanhassen City Council voted unanimously Monday night (October 24) to maintain Prince’s Paisley Park as a museum.

The council technically voted to rezone the late musician’s home and studio, which means it can stay open for ongoing public tours. According to the Star Tribune, over the past month Paisley Park has hosted tours on a temporary basis. Concerns about traffic and pedestrian safety were reviewed by city council before they voted.

Chanhassen had initially granted temporary permits to Bremer Trust, the people behind Prince’s 65,000-square-foot facility. Museum management has since announced that tickets are on sale for tour dates through December 2016. Tours will resume on Friday and tickets for 2017 tours are slated to become available in mid-November.

Graceland Holdings, who now manages the museum inside Prince’s estate, commented on the Chanhassen City Council vote.

“I think the city was very thoughtful in what they did,” Joel Weinshanker, managing partner of Graceland Holdings, said. “Prince’s museum is going to outlive us all.”

Prince passed away on April 21 at his home in Paisley Park, Minnesota. He was hospitalized on April 15 after his private plane made an emergency landing in Illinois. He was 57 years old.
