Police Officer Revives Baby in Dramatic Traffic Stop

Body camera footage captured the rescue of the 18-month-old.

A police officer in a Detroit suburb is being celebrated after saving the life of a toddler during a dramatic traffic stop.

Officer Brendan Fraser was monitoring for speeding and distracted driving when a Chevrolet Camaro flew past him. Fraser pulled the car over and the passengers told him that a baby in the car was not breathing.

“We got a baby in here dying,” the mother told him.

The officer jumped into action, according to ClickOnDetroit.com.

“I look inside, and there’s a child that’s having some kind of medical emergency when the uncle hands him over to me,” said Fraser. “He had spit and all types of saliva around his mouth. It looked like he was maybe choking, so I put him on my forearm, and I administered a couple of back blows to him when I felt some saliva and vomit fall onto my arm.”

An illness hindered the child’s breathing.

“It was a big relief for sure,” Fraser said. “The child started breathing, and you saw that color started coming back around its lips. You realized that something happened here, and we’re heading in the right direction.”

The report notes that the child will be fine.
