The youngest member of the Isley Brothers, Marvin Isley, passed away today (Jun. 7) in Chicago from complications associated with his diabetic condition, according to CNN.com. Marvin Isley was just 56 years old.

Throughout his singing career, Marvin's diabetes affected his status within the group. Back in 1997, he was forced to leave the band because of it, and soon after, both of his legs had to be amputated.

As a member of the legendary Isley Brothers, Marvin was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 along with his brothers. He provided the bass lines that were so instrumental on their records, including "Fight The Power," "Who's That Lady," and "For The Love Of You.

Marvin Isley grew up in Englewood, New Jersey and joined the group in the late 60s once he became of age (though he was still in high school at the time).
