Megan Thee Stallion Presses Court to Order DJ Akademiks to Testify
Megan Thee Stallion is moving to compel DJ Akademiks to testify in her ongoing defamation lawsuit against Texas YouTuber Milagro Gramz. The Houston rapper first filed the case in 2024, accusing Gramz of leading an organized effort to discredit her online while working on behalf of Tory Lanez.
Lanez is currently serving a 10-year sentence in California after being convicted of shooting Megan in the foot in Los Angeles in 2020. Megan’s lawsuit alleges that Gramz, whose real name is Milagro Cooper, was “compensated thousands of dollars to post fallacious information” and that she coordinated directly with Peterson while carrying out what Megan’s team described as a smear campaign.
Megan’s lawyers have sought testimony from DJ Akademiks, born Livingston Allen, as they investigate how sealed evidence tied to the case surfaced online. Specifically, they are looking into a confidential report containing DNA testing results from the firearm used in the shooting. The report was not meant for public release, yet Megan argues that both Akademiks and Gramz circulated it in 2022 to undermine her credibility and sway public perception.
Akademiks appeared for questioning on August 22 but gave little detail, according to a September 16 filing. He largely declined to provide substantive answers, instead pointing to protections under shield laws that allow journalists to keep their sources confidential. During the session, he reportedly told Megan’s attorneys that he would “never reveal” who provided the report unless a court forced him to do so.
Megan’s legal team is now asking a New Jersey court to issue that order, aiming to establish the chain of custody around the sealed document. They argue that uncovering how the report was obtained and shared is critical to proving their claims against Gramz.
The matter remains pending as the court considers Megan’s request, leaving the question of Akademiks’ testimony unresolved.
