NFL Legend Randy Moss Set for Full-Time ESPN Comeback After Health Hiatus
After missing the last two months of last year due to a cancer diagnosis, Randy Moss is set to return to his full-time role on Sunday NFL Countdown.
According to The Athletic, the Hall of Fame receiver will be back in his seat giving analysis on the games.
“Randy’s return on Super Bowl Sunday was an emotional lift — not just for our team but for the entire football community — and knowing he will resume his full Sunday NFL Countdown schedule, beginning in Week 1, has been the highlight of the offseason,” ESPN said in a statement.
In December, Moss revealed that he was experiencing severe health challenges on an Instagram live video.
“Throughout the week of the holidays, your boy has been battling something internal,” Moss shared in a video. The caption of the post read “get (your) checkups.”
“I just ask for all the prayer warriors … to put their blessing hands on me and my family through these hard times,” Moss continued.
During one episode of the show, Moss explained why he was wearing sunglasses.
“I just wanted to share something with you all. And I put a post up maybe a few minutes ago on Instagram, just telling people. You were talking about my eyes last week, “Moss said. “I just want to let the viewers know that me, my wife and my family are battling something internally.”
“I have some great doctors around me. And I couldn’t miss the show. I wanted to be here with you guys,” he continued.
Several weeks later, Moss shared that he beat the disease.
“I’ve told you all over the last couple of weeks about me battling something internally, and your boy is a cancer survivor,” Moss said in an Instagram livestream.
“So I did have cancer,” he continued. “They found it in the bile duct right between the pancreas and the liver, and that the cancer was sitting right outside the bile duct.”
To treat the cancer, Moss did a six-day stint at a hospital in Charlotte, N.C.
“It was a trying week, a trying time. So once again, I thank you all,” he said. “Thank you and your team for nursing me back to health and getting me back here with my family.”
After his retirement, Moss joined ESPN as an NFL analyst in 2016. He appears on Sunday NFL Countdown and Monday Night Countdown.
