Lil Tjay Arrested On Instagram Live After Viral Summer Jam Altercation

Police reportedly pulled over the Bronx rapper for a traffic stop, leading to the incident.

On Tuesday (June 6), Lil Tjay took to his Instagram Live to show an altercation with the NYPD that led to his arrest.

According to XXL, the Bronx rapper was pulled over for a traffic stop, but then, along with TMZ and other outlets, received a statement from his lawyer Dawn Florio reading: "Lil Tjay was arrested by the police in New York City while he was on Instagram Live. He was filming a snippet for a music video. My client was not arrested for firing a loaded firearm or possessing a loaded firearm. The arrest charge was Reckless Endangerment."

In the social media video, Tjay tells cops, "Nah. Do not cuff me, bro. Do not touch me, bro. What am I under arrest for?"

An officer subsequently demands the 22-year-old turn around before he declines to do so. "No, n***a," he says, still holding the phone. "No, bro. Hell no. ... 'What's in the car?' I don't know what's in the car. Don't touch me. There's no firearm in the car."

The clip ends with someone else picking up his phone, with Tjay being seen surrounded by at least six officers and seemingly being handcuffed. He was then taken into custody.

Two days prior, Tjay was filmed in an incident at Summer Jam 2023 with video showing him being held back by multiple people to restrain him from getting into a physical altercation. That incident reportedly happened backstage at UBS Arena in his native New York either before or after his performance.
