This past week Larry Wilmore invited his Twitter followers to ask him the toughest questions they could think of about the state of Black fatherhood, promising he would address them on Wednesday night's Nightly Show.
After his opening monologue in which he expressed skepticism over a scary statistic reported by CNN's Don Lemon, that over 72 percent of children in the Black community are born out of wedlock to absentee fathers ("I don't believe 72 percent of what Don Lemon says," he retorted), Wilmore delivered on his promise.
After asking his panel — which included Oscar-nominee Common, author Charles M. Blow, comedian Mike Yard and Joe Jones — if they would choose playing in the Super Bowl over being present for the birth of their first child (a choice Richard Sherman of the Seattle Seahawks nearly had to make), things got awkward.

When the discussion turned to why so many Black men remain unmarried, Wilmore asked the panel: are Black women bossy? Everybody except Common refused to answer the question. For the rapper/activist, who famously dated Serena Williams and Erykah Badu, Wilmore asked, "Which kind of Black woman is the most bossy, an athlete Black woman, a singer/songwriter Black woman or an actress Black woman?"
