Happy Birthday Coi Leray! 5 Songs To Get To Know The Viral Rapper-Singer

She turns 26 Thursday.

Coi Leray has been lighting up social media over the past couple years and has really built herself into being one of the music business’ viral personalities in the process.

Born Coi Collins, the rapper-singer began uploading songs to SoundCloud to begin her career before dropping her debut mixtape in 2018 with Everythingcoz. From there, she dropped numerous smash hits after signing a record deal with Republic Records, culminating with the release of her debut solo studio album Trendsetter in 2022. The title of the project is oh so fitting too.

Leray is also the daughter of hip-hop media figure and former rapper Benzino, whom she was at odds with for years. Their relationship, and its issues, created headlines before they became semi-amicable.

On Thursday (May 11), Coi Leray turned 26, and in honor of the occasion, we’re gifting her some flowers. Below are 5 of her songs that currently define her artistry.

  • “Blick Blick” (feat. Nicki Minaj) (2022)

Perhaps the biggest hit from Coi’s Trendsetter, “Blick Blick” features Nicki Minaj as the two glide over a bouncy instrumental. It also gets steamy with Leray rapping about her sexual proclivities while Minaj pays tributes to several artists who are now gone in what she labeled as “the verse of the year.”

  • “Players” (2022)

Coi Leray lit up the internet late last year when she released her song “Players” which samples Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five’s “The Message.” She also paid tribute to hip-hop royalty by releasing a remix of the song with DJ Saige which uses the instrumentals from Busta Rhymes “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See.” Saige spoke with BET about coming together with Coi in creating that remix.

  • “BIG PURR (Prrdd)” (with Pooh Shiesty) (2021)

On the heels of Pooh Shiesty’s building stardom – off the release of his smash hit “Back In Blood,” Coi linked up with the Memphis rapper for “BIG PURR (Prrdd),” which also made waves in mid 2021. The song is also the last off of Trendsetter, serving as a single for the project.

  • “Pretty Girls Walk (Remix)” (with Big Boss Vette) (2023)

A feature on the song, Coi Leray linked with fellow viral hitmaker Big Boss Vette for the remix of “Pretty Girls Walk.” The track serves as an instructional one for all the beautiful ladies also in search of their next come-up. It’s also a perfect song to enter any room or make an appearance to.

  • “No More Parties” (feat. Lil Durk) (2021)

Who could forget this one? While Lil Durk was on perhaps the hottest feature run of his career, Coi Leray called on him for “No More Parties” – a song that helped define her superstardom while cutting herself out a lane in the ever-crowded music industry. While it preaches no partying, it’s actually a perfect bop to play while at a large social gathering.
