Black Women Shifting History: How Shena Vici Turns Home-Cooked Meals Into a Whole Fine Dining Experience For Her Children

This viral content creator made her ‘Mommy’s Fancy Restaurant’ series, which has viewers obsessed with the food, the presentation, and the sweet (and fancy) family energy.

Black women make history in big, loud, public ways, but sometimes they do it in the quietest corners of everyday life — at the dinner table, in the kitchen, and on a phone screen where a little creativity can turn routine into viral success.

BET’s Black Women Shifting History series has spotlighted women whose craft, care, and consistency reshape culture in real time, and Shena, the creator behind @shenavici, fits that spirit perfectly.

On TikTok and Instagram, Shena has built a whole mood around family dinner by staging the meal like a fancy restaurant experience for her three little children. In one viral video, she captioned the moment, “We like to pretend we’re at a fancy restaurant when I cook. Part 4,” as her kids sat down to a beautifully set table complete with white tableware, folded cloth napkins, sparkling water with lemon and strawberries, and multiple courses served with full presentation.

Shena’s page is described as a vlogging account with 1.9M followers on TikTok and 955K on Instagram, and the series has grown into the most recognizable and beloved part of her content. Shena gives her children a luxury experience at every turn, not just in the kitchen. She’s fashioned their home into a boutique, 5-star hotel, complete with room numbers. The kids even get mail to their rooms. And they also have their own mini fridges that mommy helps them stock.

What makes the videos resonate with so many viewers is not just the food, but the atmosphere. Shena plays waiter, announces each course (yes, there are often multiple courses), and turns an ordinary home-cooked meal into something that feels special enough for a reservation. In her clips, Shena’s children react with obvious excitement as they’re served everything from Caesar salad and stuffed salmon to sushi, pasta, spirulina, and dessert...with plating that would make Gordon Ramsay jealous.

Viewers have been just as charmed, with comments joking about wanting to pull up an extra chair or “make a reservation,” while others have praised the kids’ manners and the warm energy of the family dynamic. Many users beg Shena to adopt them. And oftentimes, comments like, ‘I love seeing rich, Black kids, ' sum up how many viewers feel watching Shena’s kids live it up in luxury.

Shena's parenting style is unapologetically Black and inherently hers — it shows that Black children deserve luxury, and we love to see it. She is not just making dinner look cute, she is creating amazing memories for her littles, teaching etiquette, giving her children the privilege of eating well, and reminding parents that care can be an event, too.

In a culture where so much family content is built around chaos, Shena’s “Mommy’s Fancy Restaurant” series offers a different vision: one rooted in intention, joy, and the belief that Black motherhood and childhood can be both practical and luxurious at the same time.
