Jonathan Majors Film Pulled from Release Calendar Amidst Assault Allegations

The Disney Marvel star is undergoing trial for assault charges in New York.

On Friday (Oct. 27), Disney pulled Jonathan Majors' upcoming film, "Magazine Dreams," from its December release schedule.

Per CNBC, the movie was initially set for a Dec. 8 release. It’s not clear whether the schedule change is connected to Majors’ legal issues as his trial for misdemeanor harassment and assault charges starts on Nov. 29 in New York.

Majors quickly rose to stardom after his roles in HBO's "Lovecraft Country" and "Creed III." His performances in “Loki” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” establish him as the next big villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His career trajectory shifted when New York police arrested him on charges of assaulting his then-girlfriend, choreographer Grace Jabbari.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Majors faces four misdemeanor charges of harassment and assault following an alleged domestic violence incident on March 25, when police responded to a 911 call on which Jabbari said Majors assaulted her. Majors was arrested and released later that day, and Jabbari was treated for minor injuries.

Majors has maintained his innocence, but a judge recently dismissed his attempt to have the case thrown out. Jabbari was arrested in New York Wednesday evening (Oct. 25) on two misdemeanor charges for allegedly attacking Majors during the March incident. Majors filed a cross-complaint against Jabbari in June.

In "Magazine Dreams," the actor plays the role of an aspiring bodybuilder. The movie debuted at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and received praise from critics, who considered it a possible Academy Awards contender.

Disney did not respond to CNBC's request for comment on whether the scheduling change for "Magazine Dreams" was related to Majors' legal challenges.
