Travis Scott And Therapy App BetterHelp Respond To Claims They’re Profiting Off Astroworld Tragedy

Many are slamming the collab as inadequate and opportunistic.

Following the tragedy at Travis Scott’s music festival Astroworld on Friday (November 5), BetterHelp and Travis Scott teamed up to provide therapy to victims and concertgoers for a month following the aftermath. It’s a partnership that popular TikTok therapist @therapyden says is exploiting those who sign up for the therapy by having their “data mined.”

Others on social media say that one month is not long enough for adequate therapy.

Now, the online therapy website and its CEO are firing back.

The company’s website states there is no “sponsorship or brand deal between BetterHelp and Travis Scott.” Additionally, CEO Alon Matas wrote in a letter to BuzzFeed that "BetterHelp and Travis together will cover the costs to provide a month of free therapy by licensed therapists so people in need can get professional help," and claimed the Houston rapper is not getting paid in any way.

RadarOnline reports that Travis’ record label Cactus Jack is covering the therapy costs.

Investigators are still trying to determine exactly what happened, but the incident occurred when “the crowd surged towards the stage, crushing those at the front who were unable to escape,” local fire chief Sam Peña told CNN.

The incident broke out just after 9 p.m. CST. An estimated 50,000 people attended the sold-out event at NRG Park.

Video recordings of the event shows Travis on stage looking confused as an ambulance with flashing lights moves into the densely packed crowd.

Concertgoers reportedly rushed the stage in an effort to escape the chaos, causing panic, while the situation worsened when security personnel were overwhelmed, police say.
