Spike Lee Slams TCA Audience Because They Didn't Clap for Mike Tyson

The director is miffed reporters didn't applaud for Tyson's entrance.

It's not uncommon for Spike Lee to tell people exactly how he feels, and on Monday he defended his pal Mike Tyson.
Lee, who has been doing a huge amount of press lately to draw donors to his Kickstarter campaign to raise $1.25 million for his next independent project, looked visibly upset when reports at the Television Critics Association conference failed to applaud when he and Tyson entered the room for a press conference.
"No one clapped upon their entrance and Lee scolded reporters,” a spy told Page Six. “He told them, ‘Usually when the heavyweight champion of the world enters the room, people applaud.’ ” Lee started clapping, and the room followed. Tyson broke the ice by quipping, “There’s no way I’m Charles Manson . . . but I’m never going to be a Mother Teresa, either.”
On a lighter note, Lee indicated in an interview on Monday that he's working on a sequel for his hit School Daze. The notable director says he has a script for a "modern-day School Daze that is the bomb."
As far as we can tell, the project hasn't gone beyond the script stage, but we'll still hold out hope!
