Sha'Carri Richardson Returns to Hayward Field For the 50th Prefontaine Classic
Sha'Carri Richardson is making her long-awaited return to the world stage to compete in the 100M Dash at the 50th Prefontaine Classic from Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. The event is the only U.S. stop on the Diamond League schedule and is regarded as one of the most prestigious track & field meets of the year.
Richardson, the reigning Olympic silver medalist, will be competing against two of her biggest rivals, whom she shared the podium with at the Paris 2024 Olympics: Gold medalist Julien Alfred and Bronze medalist Melissa Jefferson-Wooden.
Richardson is currently ranked second in the world in the women’s 100m and some of her 10 fastest times ever in the 100m and 200m events, half have been achieved at Hayward Field. In July 2023, she ran her quickest 100m at Hayward Field in 10.71 seconds.
Her last race was the Women's 100m final at the Golden Grand Prix in Tokyo on May 17, 2025. She finished fourth with a time of 11.47 seconds, and the race was part of the World Athletics Continental Tour.
Other events include the Women's 400m hurdles with Olympic and world record holder Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Men's pole vault world record holder Mondo Duplantis, men's discus throw world record holder Mykolas Alekna, hammer throw Olympic champions Ethan Katzberg and Camryn Rogers, and the Women's 100m hurdles world record holder Tobi Amusan.
