Hadiya Pendleton's Father Speaks Out Against Stop-and-Frisk on Bill O'Reilly

Nathaniel Pendleton, the father of slain Chicago teenager Hadiya Pendleton, spoke out against the NYPD's stop and frisk policy on The O'Reilly Factor Tuesday.

The father of slain Chicago teenager Hadiya Pendleton appeared on Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor yesterday during a segment about the NYPD's stop and frisk policy.
Bill O'Reilly opened up the discussion defending the police department's use of the controversial practice that was ruled unconstitutional by a New York federal judge this month. The host said it would be "madness" for the NYPD to stop using it.
Nathaniel Pendleton was then asked by O'Reilly about his views on implementing stop and frisk laws in Chicago to combat gun violence in the city. Pendleton said enacting tougher gun regulation laws would be a better solution to bringing crime down.

“I think tougher gun laws is a much better deterrent than just making people, pulling, criminalizing people...," Pendleton said. O'Reilly asked him to reconsider the policy, but Pendleton continue to speak out against it. "I can’t reconsider, because it could be a lot of innocent, young men being criminalized for walking up the street.”
Pendleton also attributed the high murder rate in Chicago to the city not enforcing its gun laws. He said sentencing those who break gun laws to jail for a minimum of three years and “making examples of them goes a whole lot further than just pulling everyone over saying ‘I’m going to frisk you.’”
