19 Hysterical Clapbacks of 2016
In 2016, celebrities weren't having it with the unwarranted shade, so it's safe to say this was the year of the clapback. While some like Jennifer Hudson and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson used their words to get their points across, others like Beyoncé stayed mum and let their platforms, power and fans do the talking. Take a look at how some of our favorite celebs clapped back this year, below.
Jennifer Hudson is unbothered by the hate about her natural hair.
Don't come for Jennifer Hudson's edges. During Thanksgiving of this year, the singer/actress posted the above photo of her getting the turkey ready for Thanksgiving dinner, but all of the focus seemed to divert to her hair, which was in its natural state. Social media somehow felt the need to slam the star for having the audacity to appear on the internet looking "this way," so she clapped back with a post pretty much asking, "Why you mad?" Take a look above. Unbothered, indeed.
Beyoncé made money off of her 'Formation' haters like a boss.
Beyoncé notoriously handles hate in the most professional way possible: she either never responds at all or lets her work speak for itself. This time around, after her pro-Black Super Bowl performance of "Formation" got racists and conservatives in a tizzy back in February, she laid back and let the critics go in before making her move. Always one for perfect timing, Queen Bey clapped back at the haters by printing and selling "Boycott Beyoncé" T-shirts as tour merchandise during her sold out Formation World Tour. Not a word from her mouth — just fattening her pockets.
The Rock puts his 'Fast and Furious 8' cast mates on blast
We've learned a couple things about Dwayne Johnson this year: he's always booked and he doesn't take nonsense from anyone, no matter their status in Hollywood. The latter was made apparent back in August when he called out his Fast & Furious co-star Vin Diesel for being a diva on set, and when the buff actor got slammed for his words by a few of Diesel's fans, the crew of the film came to his defense, saying he's a consummate professional. Nonetheless, The Rock penned a clapback to remember on Facebook.

President Obama claps back at Trump for his 'terrorist' remarks.
Back in July, while giving an update on the fatal attacks that occurred in Orlando, President Obama decided to address one of Donald Trump's speeches and tweets from earlier that day where he spoke on the terminology that should be used. "That's not the America we want," President Obama said. "It doesn't reflect our democratic ideals. It will make us less safe." The real shade came in what he followed-up with: "Is Donald Trump suggesting that there are magic words that once uttered will stop terrorists from coming after us?" he said. "What I will not do is demonize and declare war on an entire religion."
Future claps back at Ciara for saying he tarnished her career.
For Ciara and Future, though they're had their fair share of personal successes this year, much of it was spent in court, with Ciara claiming at the top of the year that Future used the media to publicly destroy her reputation and career. Well, the rapper clapped back at his ex-fiancé and baby's mother months later, in September, in a song titled "How It Feel." The lyrics read "I gave you fame on the 'gram / I put you back on the charts... I made it, you b***h / I made you, b***h."
Monica claps back at rumors her husband was cheating.
Monica is the queen of the classy clap back. In April, when her husband, NBA baller Shannon Brown, was put on blast for sliding into a woman's DMs and allegedly cheating on her, Monica took to Instagram to clear the air. She stayed silent for a few days, but eventually spoke out on the allegations by sharing a video of her songs throwing a football on Instagram, with the caption, "In life, tests are sure to come & because of my faith & belief that God is in control, I don't run to talk about my problems because I'm too busy thanking him for the good he's doing in my life."

Gabrielle Douglas knows that with her level of fame comes haters, but she believes there must be a line. In November, the Olympic champ took to her Instagram account to clap back at all of the hateful trolls, and vowed to keep her account a "#HateFreeZome" from that point on. "OKK this needs to be addressed, I'm fed up and shutting this down. The people that want to be petty EXIT STAGE LEFT PLEASE... Honestly if you're gonna be foul just to be nasty or vile to get me to comment... I can help you find better ways to pass the time."

Taraji P. Henson lets 50 Cent know she's not the one to mess with.
Taraji P. Henson is the girlfriend every woman wants. In September, the Empire star clapped back at 50 Cent for making fun of her friend and co-star Vivica A. Fox. After the rapper made fun of his ex's face, claiming she had bad plastic surgery, and even went on to slam Empire, Taraji interjected, sharing some of her classic shade. "I prob should leave this alone but I despise bullies!!! Never understood that #crabsinabarrel syndrome," she wrote. "I don't know about y'all but I REALLY love to see OTHER ppl win. So sad. USE YOUR 'POWER' to unite the ppl and uplift us ALL!!!" Boom!

Nia Guzman was not here for Chris Brown's big win in court.
When Chris Brown scored that major victory in court back in August against his baby's mother, Nia Guzman, many were happy for the singer, but Guzman clearly wasn't. The former model took to Instagram to clap back, saying there was a lot more to the story than what was being told. In the now-deleted Instagram post, she blasted TMZ, claiming they made a "false report" stating that a judge rebuked all of her requests to limit the singer's custody. Needless to say, it looks like Breezy came out on top with this one.

Leslie Jones clapped back at her 'Ghostbusters' critics.
Leslie Jones got a lot of slack for simply being who she is: a Black woman. In March, the comedian/actress was slammed by racists who claimed she should not star in Ghostbusters because of the color of her skin. Not one to take this topic lightly, the comedian took to Twitter to let them know they needed to broaden their horizons. "Why can't a regular person be a ghostbuster," she said. "I'm confused. And why can't I be the one who plays them, I am a performer. Just go see the movie!"
Tina Lawson clapped back at hater who assumed Beyoncé left the BET Awards earlier on purpose.

However, her mother, Tina Lawson, clapped back at the haters and let it be known that very next day that her famous daughter had to jet-set following the performance for the London stop of her sold-out Formation World Tour.
Rachel Roy addresses the BeyHive over 'Becky with the good hair' drama.
Rachel Roy kind of made her own bed when she insinuated that she may be "Becky with the good hair" back in April during the premiere of Beyoncé's visual album, Lemonade. After the BeyHive attacked her for allegedly being the woman who tried to get in between Bey and Jay, she fired back on Twitter, saying she would never do such a thing and isn't here for the cyber-bullying. "I respect love, marriages, families and strength," she tweeted. "What shoulnd't be tolerated by anyone, no matter what, is bullying, of any kind."

Prince Harry defends his biracial girlfriend against racist media.
A lot of people were in shock when word got out that Prince Harry was dating a biracial woman. Many racist trolls even criticized the royal for his choice in a woman, but he wasn't having it. In a statement released on his behalf from Kensington Palace in November, he responded to the haters. "His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment," it read. "Some of this has been very public — the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments... Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle's safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her."

In November, Blac Chyna gave the queen of daytime shade, Wendy Williams, a taste of her own medicine after she claimed the model was only with her fiancée, Rob Kardashian, because he has money. "Wendy.... you lost you motherf****n' mind h*e? How dare you speak on me, my fiancé, and my mom like you were at the Christmas table with us?!" Chyna wrote on Instagram. Prosha claps back at Kandi for calling her a lying lesbian.
On the current season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, Porsha Williams and Kandi Burruss got into a disagreement after Porsha claimed the singer asked her to join her and her man in the bedroom. Kandi denied the claims on a morning talk show, saying Porsha actually came on to her and was lying, but the reality star clapped back on Dish Nation, saying, "You know what i have to say about Kandi? It's crazy. It's like if you're cool with her then she's good. Our friendship broke up. There was some shade thrown, and now there's a smear campaign. Everything will be on the show. For me, I will always sleep good if there's truth."
