D4vd's Younger Brother Caleb Burke Denies Cover-Up Allegations in Celeste Rivas Hernandez Murder Case
Caleb Burke, the younger brother of singer D4vd, is denying online claims that he helped cover up his older brother's alleged crimes in the Celeste Rivas Hernandez murder case.
Caleb posted a lengthy Instagram Story on Thursday addressing the allegations, TMZ reported. He said he has stayed silent because the case is an "ongoing legal matter," but felt he had to respond after social media users accused him of protecting his brother.
"I've seen people say that I knew what was going on and was protecting my brother. This is not true at all," Caleb wrote. "I have not lived with my brother for years, and was not very close with him."
Caleb said he wanted justice for Celeste and did not want the situation to be about him. "My intent has never been to use this to bring attention to myself or my music," he wrote.
D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, is being held in a Los Angeles detention center without bail. He has been charged with first-degree murder with special circumstances, continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, and unlawful mutilation of human remains. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 26.
As BET.com previously reported, prosecutors allege D4vd stabbed the 14-year-old to death at his Hollywood Hills home on April 23, 2025. Her dismembered body was found in the front trunk of his Tesla in September 2025 after the car was towed.
Caleb also addressed a video that has been spreading online. The clip shows him backstage at one of D4vd's concerts with Celeste. Caleb was 15 years old at the time. Some social media users have used the video to suggest he was sneaking the underage Celeste into the show.
"People have been posting a video showing me backstage with her at one of d4vd's concerts when I was 15 and I have been wanting to address it for a while," Caleb wrote. "People have even gone as far as to say that I was sneaking her backstage, which is not true."
He explained that Celeste was already at the show. He said the video shows them walking back from the front of the stage after being asked to pick something up from a fan.
Caleb's statement comes after he came under fire for launching his own music career under the stage name Kova. He released his debut single "Imaginary Love" two days before D4vd was arrested. On Monday, he dropped a follow-up single titled "S*x." Critics on social media have called the move tone-deaf, accusing him of using his brother's case to grow his audience.
Caleb pushed back on that, too. "I had scheduled my first release under the new name before any of this became a headline again, and the song came out 2 days before the arrest," he wrote. "This project (music, videos & songs) was already in motion long before any news coverage around my brother resurfaced."
As BET.com has covered, prosecutors recently revealed they found a significant amount of child sexual abuse material on D4vd's phone. They are seeking the death penalty. Caleb was previously summoned to testify before the grand jury investigating the case, but TMZ reports prosecutors were unable to get him to testify. He lives in Texas with their parents, Colleen and Dawud Burke.
