Watch: Nickelodeon Debuts an Interracial Gay Couple

The show is sparking conversation.

A new generation of kids will grow up without seeing the same media biases their parents did, at least if Nickelodeon has something to do with it. The kids-oriented channel announced this week that their newest animated series, The Loud House, will feature an LGBT couple. What's more, they will be interracial.
Wayne Brady and Michael McDonald will voice the couple, Harold and Howard McBride — parents of Clyde McBride, the nerdy best friend of the show's lead character Lincoln, Variety reports. The episode will air on Wednesday.

A clip from the episode hit Twitter and seems to handle the bold move perfectly: by not making it a big deal at all.

This is a first for the network, especially for a show targeted at such a young audience, but really makes a big statement that LGBT and interracial families are just as much a part of the American fabric as any other.
