Michael J. Feeney, Journalist, Dies at 32

The journalism community and loved ones of Michael J. Feeney are in mourning following the 32-year-old reporter's death on Sunday.

The journalism community and loved ones of Michael J. Feeney are in mourning following the 32-year-old reporter's death Sunday afternoon, according to a message posted by a family member on his Facebook page
Feeney died while being treated for complications from a staph infection in his kidneys, according to the NY Daily News. He had been in the hospital since Tuesday and died after going into cardiac arrest yesterday.
Before his death, Feeney was looking forward to beginning a new job at CNN as an entertainment reporter. Previously, he was a reporter for the New York Daily News. He also served as the president of the New York chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists. The organization named him Emerging Journalist of the Year in 2011.
Additionally, Feeney was a graduate of Delaware State University and was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.
Feeney is remembered by many as a talented journalist, mentor and leader. He leaves behind his mother, Reba Willis, his sister, Maria Feeney, and brother, Anthony Feeney, the Daily News reports. Information about a memorial service for Feeney was not available as of Monday.
Many remembered Feeney on Twitter Monday and sent their condolences, including New York City Mayor DeBlasio, Rev. Al Sharpton and Marc Lamont Hill.
