The Atlanta rapper shocked fans Monday night (May 5) when he arrived at fashion’s biggest event wearing a short afro instead of his signature locs. Spotted leaving his hotel ahead of the event, the emcee paired his outfit with the bold new cut, making him almost unrecognizable to some.
While his look was subtle for this year’s “Tailored For You” theme celebrating Black Dandyism, the hair transformation immediately sparked conversation online and, of course, jokes.
One X user declared, “Yall not finna b calling my goat Wanda Sykes on this app,” calling out to the rapper, “Pluto do something!!! @1future.”
Another person wrote, “Future is gearing up for his Cecred drops campaign.”
The “Like That” artist is no stranger to the Met Gala spotlight, having attended several times in the past.
With Rihanna confirming her third pregnancy and not one but two looks from Janelle Monáe, Future’s new look easily earned its place among the night’s standout moments.
