Pastor Kim Burrell Returning To Church After ‘Broke’ And ‘Ugly’ Comments Went Viral

Pastor Dr. Mike Freeman is said to be counseling her through this trying time.

Gospel singer Kim Burrell recently faced backlash for insensitive comments she made in church, but after deep introspection, the pastor is returning to minister again.

According to TMZ, Kim, along with Pastor Dr. Mike Freeman of Spirit of Faith Christian Center in Maryland, said the controversy will not silence her, in part because she believes speaking to her congregation is her calling.

That said, Burrell says she knows she crossed the line last weekend when she went viral for a sermon in which she referred to people as “broke” and “ugly,” among other offensive labels. She notes that Pastor Freeman, and others, will make sure she doesn’t say something similarly negative in the future.

In a post made on social media, Burrell claims she made the remarks in “jest”.

Additionally, Pastor Freeman explained why he’s standing by Burrell, saying “We don’t shoot the soldier, we nurse them.” Since receiving backlash for her written social media post, Kim issued a remorseful video on her Instagram, saying she just wants people to see her heart.

Burrell added to TMZ that the most important thing she wants her followers to know is that she's sorry and takes full responsibility for her words and actions.
