Luther will soon adopt an American accent. The hit British series, starring Idris Elba, will be remade for American television. While a new actor will don Luther's signature trench coat for the series, Elba will executive produce the incarnation.
Luther, about a detective dedicated to solving crimes but finds his commitment to work both a blessing and a curse, earned three outstanding lead actor in a miniseries Emmy Awards for Elba. The series ran for three seasons on the BBC and was one of the highest-rated shows on the network.
It's not clear when the American remake will hit the air, but fans will be eagerly waiting to see who will fill Elba's shoes.
