Sad new details have emerged from state and federal investigations regarding the tragic passing of Prince, stating that the music icon may have been dead for at least six hours before his body was discovered at his Minneapolis compound.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported the grim details that resulted from the ongoing probe into the cause of the musician's death.

Prince’s body was found in the elevator of his Paisley Park estate by his longtime drummer and assistant. The responding paramedic told staffers and responding police enforcement that he appeared to be dead for six hours or more. 

The dangerous painkiller Percocet was present in Prince's blood, and pills were found in his home, a source close to the investigation told the Minneapolis news source.

The probe also involves a criminal investigation into the doctors who prescribed the rock star with the drugs.
