Lil Baby Hosts Fifth Annual Back-to-School Fest in Atlanta, Helping 4,000+ Families Gear Up for Fall
As BET.com reported, Lil Baby gave back to his hometown in a big way with the Fifth Annual Back-to-School Fest in Atlanta on July 26.
Held at West End Production Park, the event supported over 4,000 families, offering students free shoes, uniforms, backpacks, haircuts, and wellness items.
Organized through his Jones Project foundation, the fest partnered with community-focused brands like Zaxby’s, Fanatics, and The Jessie Rose Project to ensure kids returned to school ready and confident.
“At this point, it’s about the kids,” the rapper shared after the event.
Bubba Wallace Becomes First Black Driver to Win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Historic Brickyard 400 Victory
As reported by BET.com, Bubba Wallace made history at the Brickyard 400 on July 27, becoming the first Black driver to win a race at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The victory also marked his third career NASCAR Cup Series win and broke a 100-race winless streak dating back to 2022.
Wallace stayed ahead during the final pit stop cycle, but a sudden rain delay paused the action with just six laps remaining. When racing resumed in overtime, Wallace fought off the competition despite nearly running out of fuel to secure a dramatic and emotional win.
Speaking with TNT Sports after the race, Wallace shared how overwhelmed he felt in the moment, reflecting on the mental toll and pride that came with the historic finish.
"I'm worn out," he told the outlet.
"I thought about every which way to Sunday besides driving a race car under that red flag ... Just so proud of this team. That adrenaline rush is crazy, because I'm coming off that right now and I am wore out.”
Ciara Honors Her Roots with Beninese Citizenship During Powerful West Africa Visit
Ciara’s latest trip to West Africa came with a powerful homecoming moment. According to The Grio, the multi-talented artist was officially granted Beninese citizenship during a heartfelt ceremony with government officials, including the Ministers of Tourism and Justice.
Fighting back tears, the singer reflected on the honor, calling it a proud and meaningful milestone. At 39-years-old, Ciara joins a growing list of Black American artists reclaiming ancestral roots through African citizenship, following the path of stars like Ludacris, who became a citizen of Gabon in 2020 along with his children.

Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour Makes History With $407M, Becoming The Fastest Tour Ever to Hit the Milestone
Beyoncé just lassoed another record-breaking win. According to Billboard, her Cowboy Carter Tour closed out on July 26 with a jaw-dropping $407.6 million and 1.6 million tickets sold across just 32 shows, making it the shortest tour in history to cross the $400 million mark.
With multi-night stadium runs in just seven U.S. cities, plus London and Paris, Bey flipped the script on traditional touring and it paid off. The tour is now officially the highest-grossing country tour in Billboard Boxscore history.
She also makes history (again) as the first woman and first American artist to gross over $400 million on two separate tours. And yes, she’s still that girl, holding her titles as the highest-grossing Black artist and R&B artist of all time.
GloRilla Goes From Drive-Thru to Dream Deal With Her Own $4 Meal at Checkers
As BET.com reported, GloRilla just secured the ultimate hometown full-circle moment. The Memphis rapper is now the face of Checkers & Rally’s new $4 Unbeatable Meal Deal, years after clocking in behind the drive-thru window at a local Checkers.
Back then, she told coworkers she was destined for something bigger. Now, her name’s on the menu. The deal includes your choice of a Cheese Double, Spicy Chicken Sandwich, or her limited-edition BBQ Jacked Burger stacked with pepper jack, BBQ sauce, and grilled onions, plus fries, a drink, and cinnamon apple pie, all for just four bucks.
“This moment means a lot to me,” GloRilla shared in a statement.
“Checkers is where I got my start, and now I’ve got a meal deal with my name on it. I’m grateful to Checkers & Rally’s for riding with me and trust, it’s all the flavor and all the fire, for just four bucks.”
