Quinta Brunson Addresses Divorce, Shares Frustration Over Public Scrutiny of Her Personal Life

The Abbott Elementary creator opens up about the unintended exposure of her split and the challenges of maintaining privacy as a star.

Quinta Brunson is opening up about her divorce.

BET.com reported back in March that Brunson and her husband, Kevin Jay Anik, were headed  for divorce, according to documents obtained by People

The document cited “irreconcilable differences” with the date of separation listed as “TBD.” The document also stated that the actress and her husband “entered into a postnuptial agreement which governs the disposition of their property.”

The Emmy-award winner opened up in a recent interview with Bustle during her cover shoot, sharing how she didn’t intend for her divorce to be publicized.

“I remember seeing people be like, ‘She announced her divorce,’” she began.

“I didn’t announce anything. I think people have this idea that people in the public eye want the public to know their every move. None of us do. I promise you. No one wants [everyone] to know when you buy a house, when you move, when a major change happens in your personal life. It’s just that that’s public record information.”

She continued, letting the publication know how she “hated” how the news came out.

“I hated that,” she expressed. “I hate all of it.”

She admits her success has made it harder for her to maintain her privacy.

“Even if you don’t give a lot, people want whatever they can get, and will take whatever they can get,” she expressed.
