Watch Young Frank Ocean Sing at His High School Graduation

A clip shared by YouTube user Daymond Burditt finds the notorious recluse singing the alma mater song of John Ehret High School.

There is nothing better than seeing Frank Ocean on our screens. Well, maybe hearing new music by the notorious recluse would be best.

With his Coachella headlining performance high on many fans’ must-see list, a recently surfaced video provided a brief glimpse into his pre-stardom days. Shared by YouTube user Daymond Burditt, a young Ocean — born Christopher Breaux — can be seen below singing at his 2005 John Ehret High School graduation in New Orleans.

Ocean has not been shy in talking about his childhood aspirations as a young soulja growing up in the NOLA. “I didn’t have a deep affection for authority,” he explained in a 2019 interview with W Magazine. “I was expelled and suspended it felt like every five minutes, every school year until I became obsessed with figuring out how to make a career in music. And that interest fostered a different mentality. I think it was also around the transition to becoming a teenager, and I got really calm. My mom comments on that fairly often. I feel like I still had a lot of inner chaos, but I didn’t express it the same way. So that probably was noticeable.”

And while Ocean has not offered any insight as to what his next project looks like since 2016’s Blonde, BET.com spoke with Cory Henry about collaborating on the rare groove “Iceman,” a 9-minute song, which was released on Christmas night via the former Odd Future member’s Blonded Radio Beats 1 show.

“[Frank Ocean] knows harmonically what he is going for,” the Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist told BET.com. “At the time of ‘Iceman,’ we were just trying to get a vibe going. We talked about our emotional states more than about chord progression. We did talk about tempo and listened to some classical pieces to get our approach off the ground.”

There has not been a comment released by Frank Ocean about the video’s reveal.
