The Roots Announce NYC Residency to Celebrate 30th Anniversary of ‘Do You Want More?!!!??!’
The Roots are turning back the clock to honor 30 years since the release of their iconic major-label debut, “Do You Want More?!!!??!” with an exclusive residency at New York City’s Blue Note Jazz Club.
From March 13 to 15, the hip-hop pioneers deliver six intimate performances over three nights. Founding members Questlove and Black Thought announced the celebration on Instagram, where Questlove reflected on the album's impact, calling it “the first album that allowed us to make 13, 14, 15, 16 albums.”
This anniversary comes as fans eagerly await The Roots’ first album in over a decade, following 2014’s “…And Then You Shoot Your Cousin.”
Last summer, during an episode of Questlove’s Questlove Supreme podcast, the drummer revealed how a new wave of veteran rap collaborations—like Common and Pete Rock’s “The Auditorium Vol. 1”—has reignited the band’s creative spark.
“I believe that this particular album will spark a renaissance,” Questlove said of the Grammy-nominated project, hinting that The Roots are ready to reclaim their place in the spotlight.
