A$AP Rocky Got ‘Robbed’ by Denzel Washington — and He Loved It

Between laughs and playful jabs, Washington took the watch, flashed it at the camera, and reminded everyone why he’s Denzel.

When Denzel Washington said, “I’m leaving here with something,” he meant it — just ask A$AP Rocky.

Washington might have two Oscars, decades of iconic roles, and a legacy most actors only dream of — but on Friday (August 22), he also left an interview with A$AP Rocky’s watch. Literally.

During a sit-down for GQ’s “Epic Conversations,” the “Highest 2 Lowest” co-stars joined director Spike Lee to talk shop about their upcoming film. But around the 7:30 mark, the conversation took a slight turn when Rocky asked Lee about a famous dolly shot from “He Got Game.” Before Lee could answer, Washington — in true New York uncle fashion — reached over and casually slid Rocky’s watch off his wrist.

“Yo! I’m getting robbed by Denzel right now!” Rocky laughed, caught somewhere between disbelief and admiration. Lee, amused, added: “That watch is gone; you know that, right?”

Washington didn’t flinch as he put the watch on his wrist. “You can take him outta New York, you can’t take the New York out of him, yo,” Rocky said, letting the Oscar winner keep the timepiece. “It looks better on you anyway, OG.”

The lighthearted theft was just one of many moments showing their chemistry. Earlier in the interview, Rocky revealed that people have been telling him he resembles Washington his whole life. “My mother gassed me up and told me I look like this man,” he said. “If I had a penny for every time I heard that, I’d be a trillionaire.” Washington, quick with the humor, looked at him and said, “So, Mom, should we tell him?”

While Washington later told Complex’s Jillian Superstar he doesn’t quite see the resemblance, the two clearly share a mutual respect — and a sense of humor that made the “Epic Conversations” chat feel more like a family reunion than a press run.
