Tyshawn Lee’s Father Arrested for Gang-Related Retaliation Shooting

Pierre Stokes charged in connection with shooting three people.

The cycle of violence continues.

One day after Tyshawn Lee’s killer was charged with first-degree murder, his father, Pierre Stokes, was arrested in connection to a gang-related shooting.

Stokes, 25, was taken into custody Friday after allegedly shooting three people on Chicago’s South Side on March 8, which authorities say was likely in retaliation for his 9-year-old son’s murder, reports ABC 7.

The incident left a 31-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the left forearm and a 30-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the right arm. Both men were treated and released from a local hospital. A 29-year-old female suffered a graze wound to the face, but refused medical assistance.

Dwright Boone-Doty was charged with first-degree murder on March 7 for the November 2015 fatal shooting of Stokes’s son after luring the boy into an alley and shooting him three times at close range. Doty was the second person charged in connection with killing Tyshawn Lee.

Corey Morgan was the first to be arrested for Lee’s murder and is currently awaiting trial. Law enforcement sources identified the woman Stokes allegedly shot as Morgan’s girlfriend, reports the Chicago Tribune.

Now, Stokes is facing three felony counts of aggravated battery and one felony count of unlawful use/possession of a weapon, and will appear in court on Monday.

“Mr. Stokes, who was involved in a gang lifestyle, ultimately suffered an unspeakable loss with the calculated execution of his son,” Chicago police said in a statement Sunday. “Despite this, he continued to engage in the same gang activity that started this initial cycle of violence.”
