‘We’re Afraid the Evidence Will Disappear’: Family Demands Answers After Son Found Dead in Bahamas
Maryland family is seeking justice and transparency following the death of 23-year-old Dinari McAlmont, who was found deceased on a beach in the Bahamas shortly after arriving for a family vacation according to reports.
McAlmont, a sound engineer from Bowie, Maryland, arrived at the Atlantis Paradise Island resort with his parents on April 4, 2025. Just hours later, he left dinner to explore the resort and was reported missing when he failed to return. His body was discovered the following morning on the shoreline of Paradise Island.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force stated that an autopsy revealed McAlmont died from drowning and that foul play is not suspected at this time. However, his family disputes this conclusion, citing visible injuries on his face and body that they believe indicate he was beaten. McAlmont's mother, Michelle, expressed concerns about the condition of his body and the lack of access to view it, fearing that crucial evidence may be lost.
Marcelle Bacchus, Dinari's aunt, said in a Facebook post that his body was not released to the funeral parlor a day prior because the morgue misspelled her nephew’s name.
"My sister is so frustrated. She has not seen her son as yet," Bacchus wrote, adding that cameras were not allowed in the morgue and that Dinari's family fears evidence will be lost.
They have also been denied access to surveillance footage from the resort, further fueling their suspicions. The family has taken to social media to plead for international assistance and has launched a GoFundMe campaign to support their legal efforts.
As the investigation continues, the McAlmont family remains steadfast in their pursuit of answers, urging authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Dinari's death.
