Michael Jackson Impersonators Call Out Costume Mistakes in New ‘Michael’ Biopic Trailer
During a recent TikTok livestream, Michael Jackson impersonators Fabio Jackson and Michael Trapson sat together and reacted to the first trailer for “Michael,” the upcoming MJ biopic. Fans look to the two for detailed MJ commentary, so their reaction quickly caught attention.
In a clip from the stream, Fabio praised Jaafar Jackson in the lead role. “I knew that I was going to nitpick,” he said. He admitted that even though he likes the casting, a few things in the trailer made him pause. “When I saw the trailer, I saw that some of the things could have been done better. Man, how could it be that they messed up on a couple of things that shouldn’t’ve been messed up?”
Fabio said he took issue with how MJ’s hair looked in certain shots. He also noticed Jaafar’s pants in one scene. “Too much legwarmers,” he added. Fabio explained that MJ didn’t wear them often. “I hope that they actually remove those things in a couple of situations, because Michael only wore those things a couple of times.” Both impersonators also pointed out what appeared to be the wrong glove in another moment of the trailer.
Fabio had already shared his immediate reaction when the trailer went live online. “We’ve waited for so long for this; it’s very important,” he said. After the trailer started, he didn’t speak at all. In his caption, he wrote, “It’s too much to take in.”
“Michael” is directed by Antoine Fuqua and stars Jaafar Jackson, the son of Jermaine Jackson. The film also features Nia Long, Colman Domingo, Miles Teller, Laura Harrier, and Juliano Krue Valdi. The teaser trailer made a massive impact when it dropped, reaching 116.2 million views in its first 24 hours. That number made it the most viewed trailer for a music biopic in history.
