Erykah Badu Urges Drake to Diss Kendrick Lamar

Singer pushes for lyrical bout.

Erykah Badu wants Drake to break his code of silence and hit back at Kendrick Lamar. "Drake, u gotta come-back boy…This HipHop," she tweeted Friday (Oct. 4).

Aside from a couple of comments, the Toronto native hasn't taken too seriously his forced adversary's verbal jabs, which started with Lamar's verse on "Control." Drake discussed the competitive nature of hip hop with Angie Martinez on Hot 97 late last month, saying he's just not interested in sparring with Lamar. "It just wasn't real to me," he said. "I saw him after that ['Control' diss] and it was like love, so it's like was that [diss] real or was that for the people? Those were harsh words, you can't just say that and see me like 'yeah man what's up' pretending like nothing ever happened. That's not real."

Drizzy's interview was before Lamar reportedly hit again, however, this time at the BET Hip Hop Awards cypher.

Though the story and video clip have spread on Twitter, the social media chatter still hasn't been enough to grab his attention — even with a dose of Baduizm.

Drake may just be in a happy place, though. Nothing Was the Same earned him a third consecutive No. 1 debut last week, with 650,000 in first-week sales.

As for how hard Lamar actually goes in the cypher, check for his big moments — and many others — when the BET Hip Hop Awards air Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 8 p.m.
