Young Dolph’s Partner Mia Jaye Speaks Out In Her First Interview Since His Death

“It’s been extremely difficult, just having to pick up the pieces and to find the strength for my children,” she said.

Young Dolph’s longtime partner Mia Jaye is speaking out in her first interview since the Memphis rapper’s tragic death.

In a conversation with ABC News Live Prime, Jaye says that the sudden and unfortunate event has had a tremendous impact on her family. The couple shares two children together.

“It’s been extremely difficult, just having to pick up the pieces and to find the strength for my children… that is the one thing that Adolph and myself, we just, we felt we had a duty to them,” she said during the interview.

Adding: “To protect them, to raise them, to just do so much for them, and together. Now that he’s no longer here, it’s just very tough for me to be strong for them and also be strong for myself because Adolph was my soulmate when I say they stole my future, it has taken a long time to iron out the kinks.”

Jaye’s interview comes not too long after U.S. Marshals captured Justin Johnson, 23, who had been on the run after vowing to turn himself for the murder of Young Dolph. Johnson was charged with first-degree murder.

Authorities also arrested and charged Cornelius Smith, 32, with murder.

Shundale Barnett, 27, was charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder, criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder and theft of property ranging between $10,000 to $60,000, according to an official release by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Young Dolph born Adolph Robert Thornton Jr. was shot and killed in Memphis on Nov. 17. He was 36. A section of a street in the neighborhood where he grew up was renamed in honor of him.

A tribute album for the rapper is slated to release on Jan. 21 and will feature artists Key Glock, Big Moochie Grape, Snupe Bandz, Kenny Muney and more
