Report: Judge Says Katherine Jackson Should Pay Court Costs

Michael Jackson's mother ordered to pay some $800,000 to AEG Live.

It seems like the legal battles will never end for the Jackson family. More than five years after Michael Jackson's death, his mother Katherine Jackson is still facing financial woes surrounding the King of Pop's untimely demise.

Superior Court Judge Yvette Palazuelos issued a tentative ruling which stated that Katherine Jackson must pay more than $800,000 in trial costs to AEG Live, the concert promoter she claimed played a role in her son's death.

Jackson and AEG Live's five-month court battle ended in October after a jury determined that AEG Live did not negligently hire Dr. Conrad Murray, the doctor convicted of causing MJ's death in 2009 as he prepared for a comeback tour.

Initially AEG sought $1.2 million in court costs, however Katherine Jackson’s lawyer Keven Boyle found that only roughly a quarter of that amount was justified. Nevertheless, as soon as AEG Live submits an amended list of court fees, the tentative ruling will be finalized. Her legal team and AEG's attorneys agreed not to contest to the ruling.

AEG’s camp appears to be happy with Judge Palazuelos's decision, even though they were not granted the full $1.2 million they initially claimed they spent "having to defend a matter that she should have never brought in the first place," AEG Live attorney Marvin Putnam said.

"I want to know what really happened to my son," Katherine Jackson said previously of why she filed the suit.
