SHORT CUTS: Common Tapped for "Terminator"

May 6, 2008 -- Rapper Common has signed on to co-star in "Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins" for Halcyon Pictures, reports Variety.

Christian Bale ("Batman Begins") has already boarded the project, which will be distributed by Warner Bros. domestically. Sony will release the film in most foreign territories.

In the film, John Connor (Bale), now in his 30s, leads what is left of the human race in a battle against the machines.  Common will play a freedom fighter and member of Connor's inner circle.

"SNL" Vet Ends Marriage

Former "Saturday Night Live" comedian Garrett Morris and his wife, Freda, are divorcing, according to court papers filed in Los Angeles Monday, reports People.

The pair wed in September 1996 and separated in 2002. The actor cites irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. The couple have no children.

Morris was a writer and performer on SNL in the 1970s. He also appeared on ER, Murder She Wrote and The Jeffersons. Up next is a role in the comedy Sonny Dream Weaver with Simon Rex.

Time's "Most Influential" Announced

What do Tyler Perry, Barack Obama and Mariah Carey have in common? All three join the likes of President Bush, the Dalai Lama and Miley Cyrus on Time magazine’s list of the world’s 100 most influential people. 

Announced Thursday, the final cut includes nearly 30 celebrities whose appearance was based on votes at the magazine's Web site.  

Winfrey was cited alongside fellow "influential" entertainers Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and Mia Farrow as “heroes and pioneers” for global goodwill.  

Others making the list include finance adviser Suze Orman, actor George Clooney, media mogul Rupert Murdoch, Russia’s Vladimir Putin, China’s Hu Jintao, and Obama's fellow presidential nominees Hillary Clinton and John McCain.
