Tracy Morgan Returns to the Big Screen as Red Foxx in Richard Pryor Biopic

Lee Daniels will direct the upcoming film.

Tracy Morgan's comeback continues, and his latest gig is a role in Lee Daniels's upcoming Richard Pryor biopic. The comedian, who took a year-long hiatus from Hollywood to focus on his recovery after a car crash, will play Red Foxx in the film.
“Mr. Foxx, I hope I do you justice!" said Morgan in a statement. "It will be an honor to portray an icon.”

Mike Epps is on board to play Pryor in project, with Kate Hudson playing his wife. Taraji P. Henson and Eddie Murphy will also star as Pryor's parents. Oprah Winfrey, who has previously worked with Daniels in The Butler, will star as Pryor's grandmother who raised him.
Morgan's return to show business is full-steam ahead. The actor and comedian has also signed on for a role in Ice Cube's upcoming film, Fist Fight, and will launch a stand-up tour next year. Watch his moving speech from this year's Emmy Awards, below:
