Nourishment as Resistance: 10 Black Owned Restaurants to Support this Juneteenth

Food is love, especially when the restaurant is Black owned and serving exquisite, down home, or comfort food.

One of the ways we come together is to break bread and with Juneteenth in a few days, we wanted to spotlight Black chefs and restauranteurs making their mark in the culinary landscape.

Eat, drink, be merry and commune over a plate of well-seasoned deliciousness at one of these Black owned restaurants:

James Beard Award winner Kwame Onwuachi's Afro-Caribbean restaurant at Lincoln Center has received significant acclaim.

"THIS IS MY LOVE LETTER TO NEW YORK - Written with the flavors, aromas and textures of my childhood, inspired by my culinary muse (and beloved sister) Tatiana.

Kwame's big sister looked after him while their mother worked as a chef in New York City. As the loving caretaker of his early food-wishes and dreams, Tatiana serves as the inspiration for this restaurant, and will forever hold a special place in Kwame's heart."
