Poll : Black Americans Don’t Have Enough Representation Across Industries

Poll Reveals How US Citizens See Black Americans Represented

A CBS News poll finds that many U.S. citizens don't think Black Americans have enough representation in various areas of American life and culture.

According to the poll, more than 50% of Americans believe there is not enough representation in business, politics, and law enforcement. While 24% of the poll said there was not enough representation in the realms of pop culture and sports.

The survey revealed that 9 in 10 Black people say it's at least somewhat important that the Supreme Court reflect the diversity of the country as a whole.

The news comes on the heels of President Joe Biden announcing Ketanji Brown Jackson as his nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court. Brown Jackson currently sits on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.

The CBS News Poll was part of a series that examined issues related to Black Americans as part of Black History Month.
